When you arrive at Isla Saona, you’ll have many activites to choose from. Wade in the turquoise waters, visit the open bar, take a nap on a beach lounge chair, walk along the coastline, or play volleyball. Indulge in a typical Dominican lunch of chicken, pork, rice, beans, salad, and fruit. Take your time to discover the island and do it all.

For those of you looking for excursions, I HIGHLY recommend visiting Saona!!! The absolute best day we had on our 8 day vacation to Punta Cana was the day we went on this excursion to around Saona Island! I don’t remember where I came across the post where someone else shared their experience to saona, but I thought I would do the same for those of you looking for excursions! 😊
Our Day with going to Saona was the BEST day we had in The DR!! We booked a tour to take us to Saona and spend the day in the water around the island. and Mayelin picked us up in our own van at our resort (They were waiting with a sign for us at the front of Live Aqua) at 8 am in the AM. They made sure the ride was comfortable, showed us highlights of Dominican Republic. We got to the marina around 9:30 and we quickly hopped on the boat. I had told them ahead of time that my husband loves cerveza (we are from WI where we are professionals when it comes to beer 😂)Mayelin made sure we were set for an entire day of unlimited Cerveza and beverages while on the boat. We headed out on the boat and they showed us the highlights on shore and in the water as we passed by. They pointed out the beautiful rock ledges and area they drop survivor contestants off, home of Oscar De La Renta, a manta ray, marine life and other cool things. They explained to us all the activities we could do throughout the day and let us decide how long we wanted to stay at each area. We first went to the natural swimming pool. It was absolutely GORGEOUS!! We could have spent all day there! We jumped off the boat and enjoyed our beverages while relaxing in the water. (we brought floaties to relax on). We spent around an hour at the natural pool and then got back on the boat around 11:45. We headed to our beach for lunch. They had authentic Dominican food prepared. We were shown to a table on the beach and served.
I consider Mayelin like good Friend!! Next we were off to Saona beach. The boat was fast so we didn’t spent a lot of time going in between spots. We anchored at the beach and hopped off the boat to see the beautiful white sand and aqua blue water! One of the most beautiful beaches we have ever seen!
It was so relaxing and beautiful! We stayed there until around 3pm. We then headed back to Bayahibe marina. Before going back to the marina, we stopped at a spot to see more sea life while snorkeling.
We were SO happy we decided to do the tour, we enjoyed an air conditioned van (with wifi) and more beverages as we drove back to our resort. We arrived back at our resort around 6pm.
We got to spend the whole day enjoying the water and island and only a short amount of our day was taken up by the drive to Bayahibe. I cannot recommend this excursion enough!!! This was the BEST day in the DR we have ever had! (we have visited multiple times and are well traveled). If you are looking for an excursion while in Punta Cana, I can recommend this excursion enough! 😊.
